The creative team of Nature Concerthall, discussing this year’s hero, concludes: “The energy process within a chloroplast is astonishingly similar to the energy processes of the Earth itself. By studying it, we uncover complete information about how our planet functions.”

Meanwhile, this year’s lead scientist for Nature Concerthall, Dr. Tūrs Selga, Senior Researcher at the Faculty of Biology at the University of Latvia, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, and Doctor of Biological Sciences, emphasises: “The chloroplast, by ‘juggling’ light particles—photons—along with water and carbon dioxide (CO2) molecules, transforms sunlight into electricity, while also producing glucose, a simple sugar, and oxygen. This transformative process is called photosynthesis. In Greek, this means ‘to build with light.’”

  • I tell you! If all events were like this one, I'd have to fire most of my staff! After more than 5,000 people spent hours in the sand dunes, not a single piece of garbage was left behind! There was almost no disruption to the surroundings!
