Iam an assistant professor at the University of Latvia, Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences. I teach Biogeography, Field Course in Geosciences, Latvia’s Soils and Biota. My scientific interests are semi-natural grassland vegetation ecology, geography, and species and habitat conservation. I am involved in preparation of guidelines for Latvia’s semi-natural habitat restoration and management in the LIFE project Nat-Programme coordinated by Nature conservation Agency. I participate in evaluation and improvement of agro-environmental measures of Rural Development Programme of Latvia. I am a participant and for eight years (2008-2015) and also one of the chairs of the Eurasian Dry Grassland Group (EDGG). I am working as an editor for a local scientific journal “Vegetation of Latvia”.
