Aija Pupiņa is herpetalogist and PhD of biology. She works in the Latgale zoo and in the University of Daugavpils. Conduct research and protect the rarest of Latvia’s amphibians – the red-bellied toad – and reptiles – Europe’s marshland turtles. She have implemented Latvia’s and LIFE nature protection projects and have established two new NATURA 2000 territories. Within the centre of Latvia’s rare amphibian and reptiles which she established and maintain, the red-bellied toad and Latvia’s turtles have been successfully bred and kept for many years to be let out in the wild in 2014. Author of many scientific publications. Aija would be happy to cooperate on research and conservation of the red-bellied toad and marshland turtles.
